“Say wut?!”
No one likes to go to the doctor, it’s not high on the list of fun things to do. Although it is necessary, all sorts of uncomfortable things happen there. It’s the same way for dogs going to the vet.
The vet is full of loud scared and sick dogs. Even healthy dogs that are just there for a checkup sometimes must get shots or a blood test. And, just like humans, dogs don’t want to know how much they weigh at the vet.
So, Thor thinks he’s just going for a car ride. Unconcerned, he’s chilling out in the backseat of the car. Maybe he has visions of the dog park in his head, or even better, a trip to the pet store to pick out some yummy treats and new toys.
Suddenly, everything changes when they pull into the veterinarian’s parking lot. “We’re here, Thor.” When he hears the words, he realizes where they are. The way his head is nervously looking out the window, then he turns it toward the camera and his facial expression says it all, “this must be some mistake.”
Oh, nooooooooooooo, I’ve been played.
Dad gets out of the car and opens the door for Thor. But he doesn’t want to get out of the car. Even with mom telling him he must, they’re not going to leave, he looks around trying to figure out if there’s a way out of this mess, he’s found himself in.
Since there isn’t a way out of going to the vet, he just sits down. Maybe if he can ignore the problem, it will go away. Just like with most problems, ignoring it doesn’t help much. Mom and dad are not going to leave until he goes inside to see the vet.
When all else fails, bribery happens. Thor is offered a treat and after much mental debate, decides that he might as well be a good boy and get out of the car. Who knows, maybe there will be more treats inside.
We hope Thor’s appointment was a painless one and he had a good time seeing his vet. Preventative care is just as important as care for sick pups so it’s great when dogs are comfortable at the vet.
